NARRATIVE BIO
LESLIE WILLIAMS Ph.D.
​
An English professor and writer for thirty years, Dr. Williams’ career in art started with her study at the Yale School of Art as part of an advanced degree in theology. After training under Robert Reed in 2011, she has spent the last six years painting and becoming more involved in the art scene in Texas. She has continued to study with Sylvia Benitez, nationally known artist at the Southwest School of Art, and Robert Tiemann. In addition, she has studied in New York at the Art Students’ League.
Since she started her new career six years ago, Williams has had solo shows at the Sarah Smith Gallery at the Yale Divinity School, the McCormick Gallery at Midland College, The Cloisters Gallery at Christ Church Cathedral in Houston, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in San Antonio, and in Kerrville, TX.
She has participated in group exhibitions at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts in Lubbock, TX, the Master’s Exhibition invitational, Santa Fe NM, the International Encaustic Artists Conference, the invitational exhibit at the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center, and Schreiner University. In San Antonio, she has shown at St. Mary’s University annual Invitational, the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, the Art Institute, the Southwest School of Art, and the Cathedral House Gallery.
Williams is a member of the Gentileschi Aegis Gallery Association based in San Antonio, and has been listed in Art in America. One of her pieces is part of the permanent collection of Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville.
She and her husband, Stockton Williams, live in Kerrville,
Texas, where her children and grandchildren also reside.
Williams is represented by River’s Edge Gallery in Kerrville.
